During the month of April, as part of St. Gregory’s recognition of  Stewardship of Creation,  we are calling for a pledge of  1000 Acts of Green from our school community. Students and their families are asked to assist us in covering our “1000 Acts of Green Tree” with leaves.

Each leaf should state the student or family member’s name, as well as the green act they did to help the environment that day. Pre-cut leaves are available in the classes for students to complete each morning. Families are also encouraged to create and complete their own leaves at home and send them to school to be added to our tree.

Some examples of Green Acts you can try at home include:

  • turning off all electronics and lights when not in use

  • walking or biking instead of driving

  • take public transit at least one day each week

  • buying locally grown food

  • unplugging appliances when they are not being used

  • turning off water when brushing your teeth

  • turning down the heat in your home by a couple of degrees

  • instead of paper towels, using cloth towels

  • using refillable cups instead of styrofoam cups

  • using cold water for laundry washing

  • switching to paperless banking

  • double-sided printing when using the computer

  • continuing to recycle and compost
